Meet THE CONSERVATIVE CHOICE for District 3

I am a native of New Bern and Craven County, raised in The Ghent neighborhood, and making my home in the Forest Hills neighborhood for the past 15 years.  I am a product of Craven County Schools - Trent Park, FR Danyus, HJ MacDonald, Grover C. Fields and New Bern High School (1996) - and a graduate of two of North Carolina's finest state universities: 

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1999) and 

East Carolina University (2004, MBA). 

I spent the first 21 years of my professional career in the corporate sector in Finance, Accounting & Business Planning in Forestry and Manufacturing (Assembly and Break-down). In 2020, I transitioned to Residential Real Estate Appraisal, and I am a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser. 

I serve on the Board of Directors of Craven County Partners in Education (2008 - Present, also Past President) and the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Forestry Association (2015 - Present, former Chair of the Education Committee). In 2016, I was recognized as the Educator of the Year by the NCFA for my statewide contributions to forestry education.

I am an active member of the Craven County Republican Women and North Carolina Federation of Republican Women.  I currently serve on the Executive Board of the Craven County Republican Women as Chair of the Scholarship Committee; previously, I served two terms on the Executive Board as Treasurer for Craven County Republican Women.  I serve on the Executive Committee of the Craven County Republican Party as Member-At-Large, Community Outreach Chair and have been active in organizing the Bridgeton, Grover C. Fields and H.J. MacDonald Republican precincts. My husband and I are Advisors to the Coastal Teen Age Republicans (TARs), which welcomes teens from Craven, Jones and Pamlico counties, ages 13-19.

In August 2023, I married the love of my life (and my childhood classmate), Brandon, who is a public high school administrator (formerly 22 years in the classroom as a Social Studies teacher).  I am also mom to Patrick, affectionately known as "my best bet yet." 

THE CONSERVATIVE CHOICE

I stand for accountability, fiscal stewardship, safety and security of our students and facilities, and competitive education strategies that prepare our students for success in career, college and military opportunities after high school - starting in Kindergarten. I believe Craven County Schools should make all attempts to be a school system of A+ Performance in every aspect - Academics, Attendance, Athletics, the Arts and ALL co-curricular and extracurricular activities.  My decisions as a school board member will be informed by my Christian, Conservative values, where every single student has access to the possibility of A+ Performance.
